BIM 101

Learn the BIM Level 2 Basics

LONDON | MANCHESTER | BIRMINGHAM | GLASGOW | BRISTOL | NEWCASTLE | NORWICH

Building of the success of the 'BIM for Geospatial Professionals', which as the name suggests is a focused course for specific roles, 'BIM 101' is a beginners’ course aimed at ALL novices to the world of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the UK with no, or very little, technical / IT or Information Management (IM) background.

This course is intended as an introduction to BIM Level 2 and the UK's BIM Mandate which underpins this. If you simply want to get an introduction in plain English, with no jargon – this is the course for you. There is nothing assumed about your background in technology / CAD or ‘BIM’. We start from basic principles for BIM Level 2.

Join us to start your journey into the understanding and implementation of the wider sense of BIM, in a safe environment. You will be able to ask anything you like about BIM in the UK, Digital Built Britain and where things are going. There are no silly questions.

This course is intentionally kept to a small group for the best learning outcomes. We encourage group interaction, but don’t force anything – you can come and simply listen if you want! The Tutor will be available for follow-up calls - up to 4 weeks after the course - for any extra questions with ALL packages. In addition with the ‘Kickstarter bundle’ you will receive 5 days face-to-face consultancy with the Tutor to kickstart you BIM journey and embed your BIM implementation.

As with all our courses, on this course the word ‘BIM’ is used in the widest sense of information management, as in the UK’s 'BIM Level 2' mandate, process and change management. This course is NOT about 3D/4D modelling nor specific technologies.

The ICE Certificate for BIM

We also recommend BIM training from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)

GeoEnable are recommending ICE BIM Training as a great way to demonstrate your understanding of BIM Level 2. ICE BIM courses are aligned with PAS 1192-2BS 1192:2007 and BS1192-4 and can be used as part of your CPD requirement.

The ICE BIM Action Group has been working closely with ICE Training to develop a unique BIM training pathway that both develops you professionally and awards you the ICE Certificate for BIM.

It comes as part of ICE’s initiative to transform industry through ensuring best practice across engineering and construction sectors. To achieve this, ICE uses knowledge transfer and the provision of life-long learning tools for skills development.

Our Director for EMEA, Steven Eglinton, is the Principal Tutor for 'BIM Implementation - Putting People First', one of two ICE BIM courses. >more
